“Laid back” is how they used to describe it. Music that falls gently on the ear…with words and stories that speak to the heart. Jeff Lopez has been singing and writing the kind of “laid back” music  we all relate to for more than three decades.  A talented singer, guitarist, and songwriter, he lives in the Clear Lake area southeast of Houston with his wife, Shirley.

Jeff taught himself to play guitar at an early age and began writing songs as a teenager. He is an ASCAP member, having had two of his songs recorded in the 70’s by country music star Mel Tillis. Jeff recorded numerous singles in his early songwriting years, which received local airplay.  He has performed in clubs and restaurants from Lake Charles to Houston through the years as a solo act and also with his sons and brother in a classic rock band called CROSSROADS. The band continues to perform as a trio. Jeff’s love of music continues to inspire him to write and perform. He covers a wide variety of popular artists and lists James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, Harry Chapin, and Jim Croce as musical influences. His original music combines thoughtful, sensitive lyrics with intricate melodies.  On any given weekend you may find him singing on the water in Kemah or in one of the popular wine bars and restaurants in the bay area.
